SFOA started with a mission: teach young people how to live & Work sustainably, and encourage them to teach their families and communities to do the same.
Scott Harmon founded SFOA in 2008 after his son Jon awakened him to the ongoing climate crisis and the importance of sustainability. Since then our small team has designed and run overnight sustainability leadership camps, sustainability day camps, and Green Career Field Trips.
Now we are bringing sustainable careers exploration to students and classrooms across the country with our Sustainable Technology Career Videos, giving high school students the information they need to prepare for careers in sustainable companies and industries.
VISION
Teach millions of young people about sustainable living and green careers, fuel the green workforce of the future and cultivate a community of ambassadors who push for change in their home, school and workplace to dramatically reduce our footprint.
MISSION
Create and deliver impactful sustainable career exploration content and virtual visits to complement CTE pathways and STEM education curriculum.
