Activity 1: Green Careers Exploration Quiz

Predict your top 3 Career Interest Areas

Green Careers Exploration Quiz
Welcome~5–7 minutes
Start here Green Careers Exploration Quiz
Students collaborating on green tech

Estimated Time: 5–7 minutes.

This quiz blends RIASEC interests (Holland’s six career interest areas) with a brief Big Five personality booster to suggest green‑career categories that fit you. Interests drive most of the result; personality adds a small nudge when scores are close.

  • Method: 12 interest items (RIASEC) + 8 short personality prompts (Big Five).
  • Why these? RIASEC is the standard used by O*NET for career exploration; Big Five short forms are widely used when time is limited.

Your Top Matches

Each category shows a 0–100 score based on your interests (primary) plus a small personality boost (secondary). These scores do not add to 100; think of them as “fit out of 100” for each area.

About the method

We use Holland’s RIASEC model for vocational interests (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional) as the main signal, the same framework that powers the U.S. Department of Labor’s O*NET Interest Profiler.

Occupational Information Network (O*NET): The Occupational Information Network is a free online database that contains hundreds of job definitions to help students, job seekers, businesses and workforce development professionals to understand today's world of work in the United States. We add a brief Big Five personality check (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Emotional Stability) to help break ties. Personality contributes no more than 25% of the score so interests remain primary.
